Most commercial CD DVD players have a certain code programmed which restricts them from playing foreign movies. This code enables different countries to regulate content and/or price.
The region codes for CD DVD players are as follows:
• 1: Canada, USA, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands.
• 2: European Union
• 3: Southeast Asia
• 4: Australia, New Zealand
• 5: AfricaRegion codes can be very irritating; especially for people who buy movies online from marketplace sites like eBay (sellers often live overseas). For this reason, some manufacturers sell region 0 CD DVD players which can play all the codes.
